On Friday we celebrated All Souls Day. It is a day we remember all those who have died and pray that their souls reach heaven.
In Art we talked about Sadako and read a bit of the story "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes". It is a touching true story of a young girl who was stricken with leukemia after the atomic bombs were dropped on two cities in Japan at the end of World War II, Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Why did Sadako want to fold 1000 paper cranes?

If you can show me that you can fold a crane ON YOUR OWN you may have origami paper to fold one that is coloured.
This was truly and exercise that you needed to use GRIT to be successful!
Family Life
The focus of our lesson can be read in the words of Isaiah:
The first theme Created and Loved by God, is like the foundation of a house. Everything else in the program is built on this. We believe we are made in God's image and God loves and knows each one of us. We are a very special creation.
In this first lesson we talked about how babies didn't come with instructions, but if they did, the most important one would be love me forever. God gave us people in our lives to love us and teach us how to love. We also met the students of Mr. Talbot's grade five class. We will be journeying with them throughout the year.
Math
We had a very short lesson on decomposing fractions into whole numbers and fractions. This form is called a MIXED NUMBER. Keep practicing counting by unit fractions and recognizing when you hit whole numbers.
Complete Mathletics assignments and the electronic games from the past week.
