Religion
This week you will write a comparison paragraph (type of expository paragraph) of the two parts of the Bible, the New and Old Testaments. Here is the handout from your text that you used to gather most of your information.

Try to find a few more differences doing your own research. That would show INITIATIVE.

Math
Please finish Mathletics assignments.
There are a few more assignments. You may use the calculator to the right of the screen to complete them. Try using your mental math first, then check with a calculator. Remember addition and subtraction are INVERSE (opposite) operations as well as multiplication and division. In simple words, you can "undo" division by multiplying and undo subtraction by adding and vice versa.

Example:
12 x ___ = 72 on the calculator (if you don't know your 12 times table) you could input 72 divided by 12 to get the answer to the blank.

Example
49 + ____ = 92 you could get the answer by inputting 92 - 49 = ____

Always use your reasoning skills. Will your answer be bigger or smaller than the number you begin with? Adding and multiplying will give you larger numbers. Subtraction and division will give you smaller numbers. As well, knowing fact families will help you. If you are having difficulty with the assignments, click on the help button or try something easier to help.

Example
72 - ___ = 28

Will the ___ be bigger or smaller than 72? Logically it must be smaller so you do not add 72 + 28 to get the ___ you SUBTRACT 72 - 28 because 28 + ___ = 72

Literacy
The focus this week will be revising all the paragraphs we have written. You will need to show GRIT this week.

Art
The monster pastel art was spectacular. I can't wait to display your masterpieces! If we have indoor recesses this week, please work on your art.

Congratulations to all students who participated in the Fall Fun Fair. Another example of great initiative.

Drama
We will be presenting our skits on the three decision making models: autocratic, democratic and consensus at the end of the week. Is there ever a time where autocratic might be the best way to decide? Think about that....

Social Studies
We will be finishing Social Studies this week and focus exclusively on Science (Sound). We can decide when you would like to have your Social Studies test, probably sometime in November after this week.

Reminders:

  • INDOOR SHOES preferable COMFORTABLE running shoes should be at school at all times
  • GYM CLOTHES disappear because they are left on the bench. There are still outstanding green Nighthawk shirts.
  • Orange and black day on Wednesday.
  • Halloween bowling on Wednesday. Still missing 2 permission forms.
  • We have allergies to peanuts, tree nuts and milk in the classroom.
