This morning we celebrated mass at St. George as a school community. You did a wonderful job with your Kindergarten buddies. All of you showed great patience!

Social Studies
We continued our discussion of municipal governments. I was very impressed by the questions you wrote about government. I look forward to you sharing your answers to these questions during or at the end of our government unit.
We also linked our Social Studies lesson to Literacy. We wrote a response to an open question using the APE strategy.
Everyone agreed that municipalities should have the power to make their own laws and provide services that the community needs. The reason, all communities are different. The "proof" or examples we gave had to do with size and location or the environment. Larger cities need more public transportation, that's a service. In London parking on the street is not allowed at night during certain times of the year. In Toronto, many people in older areas do not have driveways so the street is the only place to park. Some northern communities might have laws about feeding wild animals. Municipalities are unique places to live so they need specific laws and services to meet the needs of the people who live there.
Religion
Today we talked about how we are all part of the Body of Christ. The Church is the baptized people who believe the faith Jesus taught. We read a beautiful prayer by St. Teresa of Avila. If you have a moment, read the prayer again and think about its meaning.
