Today both grades discussed the math calendar questions. There were a few questions that were tricky for both grades. In grade four, the penny question stumped most students. In grade 5, drawing a picture to show a growing pattern stumped most students. Don't forget to show you work and thinking.
It is important for students to submit calendars for review on Friday. Many students did not. A reminder that your math calendar is due on Friday at lunch each week. You may have to bring home your calendar if you don't think you can complete it by the deadline.
If you are behind in your homework, please do your best to catch up. We will be having a test on representing numbers on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20TH. Homework completion is part of RESPONSIBILITY learning skill.
Both grades were given a game for extra practice.
Social Studies
We discussed municipal governments today and looked at candidates for two different offices, mayor and councillor. Remember....
- London is divided into 14 wards
- Each ward elects one councillor
- St. Nicholas is part of Ward 9
Here are a few links to check out some of the candidates:

The last office we did not talk about is School Board Trustee. If you are part of the Catholic Education System, you vote a Catholic School Board Trustee. Who are the trustees running in Ward 9? This person will represent several wards.
Do you remember the meaning of the word INCUMBENT?
Complete three questions you have about government and only the first page of the local government handout. We will finish it tomorrow.
We discussed some features of non-fiction texts in our Social Studies text. The focus in Literacy (reading, writing, media) is non-fiction text forms and non-fiction writing.
Physical Education
